Methodology

This course is interactive and includes group discussions, videos, case studies, and specially designed exercises. BIA and BCP plan models are applied during the course to be practiced after its completion. The course provides supporting information such as the Master Event List (MEL) for planning and Terms of Reference (TOR). It also includes specific models for conducting Business Impact Analysis (BIA), Business Continuity Plan (BCP), and Business Continuity Exercises (BC).

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the methodology of establishing an Operational Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) in compliance with the NCEMA 7000-2015 Law, the Business Continuity Institute (BCI) Good Practice Guidelines (GPG) 2013 in the UAE, ISO 22301-2012 for societal security, and Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) requirements.
  • Identify the elements and best practices of a successful BCM program, including its policy, strategy, and supporting tools.
  • Understand the effective components of Business Impact Analysis (BIA) capable of meeting the organization’s strategic, tactical, and operational requirements.
  • Develop a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and conduct Business Continuity Exercises (BC).
  • Develop a reviewable Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) that aligns with the NCEMA 7000-2015 Law implemented in the UAE.

Target Audience

Anyone involved in business continuity, quality assurance, auditing, IT specialists, information technology disaster recovery (DR) recovery managers, or anyone responsible for maintaining Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and auditing and technology recovery plans.
